North Morocco, summer 1921.

The Spanish Colonial army has just undergone the most bloody and humiliating of defeats. A boy will witness and participate in some of the after effects: the cruelty of the reprisals, the desperate search for missing people, protest campaigns carried out by the revolutionaries, and an adventure that will put both love and friendship at stake.
