El dios reflectante is a monumental investigation of the ultimate consequences of the creative act and a voyeuristic look into the modern artist’s monstrous mind.
Wunderkind, cult filmmmaker and survivor of a childhood in the shadow of the “Japanese Salinger”, Matsuhiro Takei arrives in London to shoot his second work, Terminal Stupidity. The masterpiece of the recently founded martial-arts-art-film genre, his movie chronicles the collapse of the human neural system due to a critical mass of electromagnetic radiation. But soon Matsuhiro’s project starts sending out shockwaves of enthusiasm and misery that encircle everyone around him: Spencer Sykes, the messiah of libertarian porn; Anatol Trilinka, an amateur kung-fu fighter in the middle of a personal crisis; Pola Arthur, a post-anorexic teenager in search of her first love; and above all, Sullivan Banks, tragic-minded scholar and out-patient of Doctor Smilowitz’s Hospital for Non-Classified Mental Disorders.
«This literary delirium tremens is the most original, incisive, fresh and deconstructive thing that you can read these days.» Óscar López, El Periódico
El dios reflectante is an ace pulled from its author’s sleeve; wild, hilarious entertainment, never before seen in Spanish fiction.» Gabi Martínez, La Vanguardia
«A disproportionate talent…who creates virtuoso prose.» Francisco Solano, El País
«An indefinable wonder, a karate chop, a shot of adrenaline. A must-read.» Antonio Lozano, Qué Leer
«A tremendous depiction of reality and its monsters…It raises the author’s literary stature a notch.» Pilar Castro, El Mundo
Germany: Frankfurter Verlaganstalt; Italy: ISBN Edizioni
