Feminisme gòtic

Gothic Feminism | H&O, 2026

Although Gothic literature emerged as a popular genre in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Feminisme gòtic employs the Gothic anachronistically and through a queer lens to reclaim those feminine figures marked by the supernatural, the morbid, the mysterious, the sublime, and even the abject—figures that have endured centuries of shame, defamation, and extreme violence. Here, the woman is no longer the victim of the Gothic scene, as she so often is in the tradition, but its monstrous protagonist.

PRESS

«An investigation into the cultural construction of the female monster—that is, those ‘feminine manifestations of a supernatural, morbid, mysterious, sublime, and even abject nature’ that have historically resisted the ideal.» Ofèlia Carbonell, Quadern, El País

«It’s time for the Gothic.» Begoña Gómez Urzaiz, La Vanguardia

«A book written by four hands whose aim is to reclaim every category imposed upon women and overturn its meaning in order to uncover new emotions and political possibilities. The result is a taxonomy that simultaneously challenges taxonomies themselves and the very desire for fixed identities.» Joan Burdeus, Núvol

«Gisèle Pelicot’s smile comes to petrify the patriarchy.» Montse Virgili, Les dones i els dies (radio)

«A monstrous essay.» Marc Cerrudo and Andrea Genovart, La pila (radio)

«An essay that explores representations of women in culture and literature through a critical and contemporary lens.» Eva Remolina, Tot Lleida
