Irene Pujadas (Sant Just Desvern, 1990) lives in Barcelona. She has worked for several media outlets & magazines like Ara, La Lectora or La Llança, and has participated in anthologies like El Gran Libro de los Pájaros (Blackie Books, 2023), Elles també negregen (Llibres del Delicte, 2023), El meu primer llibre porno (Males Herbes, 2024) or Carn de Cap Magazine. In 2017, she co-founded BRANCA, a very hip literary and multidisciplinar magazine and currently works at Angle Editorial. In 2020, she won the Documenta Prize with Els desperfectes (L’Altra, 2021), a short story collection that also received the City of Barcelona Award and was highly praised by both readers and critics.
The opening story, which gives the book its title, was even translated into English and published in The New Yorker in the summer of 2024. In 2025 she published her debut novel, La Intrusa (L’Altra, 2025), an ontological deep dive into the modern struggle of feeling.
