Els murs invisibles

Invisible Wall | L’Altra Editorial, 2024

«I can’t respond. I notice somebody’s got their arms around me, and unceremoniously I shake them off. Suddenly, all these people who five minutes ago I considered my friends seem like strangers. They don’t know where I come from or the world I belong to.»

On the night of March 12th, 2004, sitting in a bar in Vallcarca with his friends from the Philosophy department, Ramon receives a message that nobody would wish to receive. With it begins a race against the inevitable.

With its autobiographical edge, this book is simultaneously the chronicle of a death foretold, a story about entering adulthood and a hymn to friendship. It is also a homage to a world that springs up on the margins and to relationships forged outside the prevailing conventions in a city as conservative as Vic. Precise and delicate, movingly full of held-back emotion, Els murs invisibles, in short, recounts an episode that will leave an indelible mark on its protagonist’s life.

PRESS

«This book shows that friendship should be a more prominent literary theme. The story leaves the same indelible imprint as the first adult friendships.» Mar García Puig, author of La Historia de los Vertebrados

«In its mixture of pain and tenderness, Ramon Mas’ prose blooms like that of few others.» Ferran Garcia, author of Guilleries

«A portrait of a disaster, swift and brutal like a punk song.» Javier Calvo, Biblioteca Breve awarded author

«I have the feeling that everything Ramon Mas has written to date has been a way of picking the necessary holes, of preparing the way, so that this book can exist.» Míriam Cano, author and translator
