José A. Garriga Vela is a regular contributor to several newspapers and magazines. He is the author of several books of short stories and plays. As a novelist, he has written Una visión del jardín (1985), Muntaner 38 (Jaén Prize Novel 1996; Debate, 1997), El vendedor de rosas (Destino, 2000), Los que no están (Anagrama, 2002; Alfonso García Ramos Prize), and  Pacífico (Anagrama, 2008, Dulce Chacón Award 2009).

His latest novel, El cuarto de las estrellas (Siruela, February 2014) was the winner of the Café Gijón Novel Prize 2013.
